What Goes Around, Comes Around

My 667th clue that I’m not in Mississippi anymore was when I woke up to 3+ inches of snow on Wednesday morning and still had class. My next clue was when I looked out of my window at 1am to the snow coming down like crazy and no one was playing in it….Last year when it snowed at State, it was a straight party all night long until there was no more snow on the ground to play in but no one here seemed to have that enthusiasm :( Anyways, walking to class when it’s snowing was not my favorite, but a first at that. Thursday was 'first shirt, first snow' at USAFA since the first time it actually snowed was on a Saturday and the upperclassmen trashed all of the doolies rooms and went crazy, as usual. On Friday, I went to lunch with Ellie, a USAFA wife, and Anni, a USAFA girlfriend who was in town for the weekend! We went to a Mexican restaurant and although it was good, it made me miss Casa and Rancho even more, haha! Afterwards, I got my oil changed and then picked up Cody at USAFA. We went grocery shopping and then picked up some last minute things so that we would be ready to hit the slopes on Saturday. Melissa made a Halloween cake and we spent the rest of the night hanging out at my apartment!

We left Colorado Springs with a quick breakfast from McDonald’s around 7am and made it to Loveland Pass (since Winter Park and Copper Mountain aren’t open yet) about 9! I skied and Cody snowboarded until around 3pm…only 1 lift was open since it is so early in the season so it was a little crowded but a lot of fun! I fell a few times but the best part was when Cody fell….it rarely happened and only when he was doing a trick but I laughed so hard a few times that I fell too…what goes around comes around I guess, hahahah! It’s also really encouraging when 3 year olds are better than you are…okay, maybe not 3 but these kids were legit! It was in the high 20s/low 30s and 65 back in Colorado Springs so I actually wasn’t cold! I’ve only been skiing once before and it was on a fake mountain with fake snow in Missouri so I’m excited to get to go a few more times before I head home for Christmas! After a much needed nap, we went to Red Lobster for a late dinner! I enjoyed it but Cody decided that Colorado is just too far from the coast for seafood…

Cody made breakfast for me on Sunday and it was delicious! We went to a thrift store searching for ski poles since one of mine broke in half on Saturday and the other one was super short….FAIL. We found some perfect used ones for $3 and went to play tennis. There was an old couple playing beside us so we had some competition….they were pretty good to be so old, it was funny listening to them hate on each other!

Football, Presents & Friends!

Hmmmm, I haven’t blogged in awhile so let’s see….On the 13th, I went to the USAFA football game on Thursday and had a pretty chill Friday. The game was freezing so I didn’t stay the whole time…plus, USAFA isn’t the best this year (I know MSU sucks too) so it wasn’t worth the coldness. I was also tired from taking Melissa to Denver at 4am for her to fly home...not to mention the Academy has gained some nazi’s that are psycho about making sure the cadets sit in the cadet section and don’t leave the game early and all that so that is kind of unfortunate BUT Friday was warmer which was wonderful! Cody had mandatory squad stuff most of the afternoon so we hung out later that night. We went to dinner with Blake and his girlfriend at Red Robin on Saturday night and then played putt-putt for $2 at this really neat outdoor place. I won, shocker right? :) Haha. Sunday we went to lunch at Fat Boys Pizza since my mom sent me a groupon…we got it to go and went to a park to eat and then got our season passes…I got one for 4 days at a discounted rate since I’m coming home in December and Cody got one for the whole season. We played putt-putt again and then came back and made smores in the microwave…yumm! Then, we finished up ‘Lost’….since Cody watched it during the week without me, I probably ended up seeing around ½ of the episodes but I was still sad that it was over! I think I’m gonna start at Season 1, Episode 1 soon and try to watch every episode!

MONDAY WAS MY BIRTHDAYYYY! Facebook always makes me feel special on my birthday, haha! I received some packages and cards….First off, Cody sent roses and chocolate to me so that was a nice surprise…on top of taking me snowmobiling in December..tricky tricky :) My parents sent me glow-in-the-dark ice grippers to put on any shoes and fancy ear muffs…only Karen! Haha, I will most definitely use them though, don’t you worry! Oh and a car, no big deal. My uncle got me a liner for my big north face shell that he got me last spring, north face snow boots and a ski pass wahooo!
My aunt and Cody’s family sent me money that I plan to use when Cody and I go skiing/boarding later in November. Lauren sent me an Ole Miss shirt and a sweet cup that changes colors when you put something cold in it. Melissa got me giraffe slippers, a classy flashdrive bracelet, made me a cake and took me to fazoli’s for dinner! Leighna made me a cake and I got lots of texts and phone calls from everyone so thank you sooo much for everything :)

Last week was very busy. I had a lot of school work so I’m glad it’s a new week! I’m almost just ready for it to get cold because these 40 degree temperature differences throughout the day are so hard to dress for when I leave my apartment at 7:30am and I’m very cold-natured!
Friday was Autumn Ball and we had a party at my apartment afterwards in honor of mine and Cody’s birthdays!  I decorated like a mad woman and blew up over 40 balloons so that was fun. We basically went in, took some pictures and left to go eat at Olive Garden and then everyone came over and ended up staying the night. I made chocolate covered pretzel sticks dipped in sprinkles and strawberries successfully and I think I’m actually going to make some more today :)  Saturday and Sunday were pretty low-key and full of sleep, college football (aka watching Ole Miss blow it), NFL and the World Series! Sonic in Colorado doesn’t serve french toast sticks anymore…how bad does that suck? I’m hoping Mississippi still does!

The high today is almost 80 but the high on Wednesday is 27…I’m not lying.

It better snow because I bought a $5 sled at Walmart! Today, I received a coin from another USAFA girlfriend who is currently enlisted! It is a Challenge Coin that was flown across the skies of Afghanistan on October 6th on a combat mission in a C-27J Spartan Aircraft. How freaking cool is that?! I got a certificate and the pilot signed it and everything!
Cody has been recently interested in eBay so he’s selling some things on there right now…like his xBox and a guitar and an old snowboard and it’s gotten me thinking of what I have at home and need to sell! Classes are fine, it’s hard to believe that I only have 6 weeks of the semester left. The closer it gets, I’m getting more and more excited to come home for thanksgiving, which is now less than a month away!

I wanna go home.

Haha, I bet that got your attention. Snow is not meant for the first week in October, duhhh. Plus, my father says I am coming home in December…"enough is enough" soooo hello Mississippi again and thank you for not being so cold all of the time! Okay, so maybe I’m being a bit over the top but at USAFA this weekend, it snowed 5 inches. I shouldn’t be surprised at this point but that’s insane and this girl was not prepared! Despite that, I have had an incredible past few days...

Cody’s birthday was Wednesday so I went to visit with presents and a chocolate pie that he had eyed the week before at the store. We were both exhausted and ended up falling asleep in my car while chilling at an overlook at USAFA…oops. Then, I picked Alex up around 10pm Thursday night and we stayed up until 4am catching up….it’s always so great to see her :) After she went to class with me on Friday, we hit up Schlotsky’s and then USAFA to pick the boys up. Cody and I, well mainly I, planned a weekend of fun for our birthdays since his just passed and mine is next week, not to mention he had a 3 day weekend…lucky!

On Friday, we went to Sportsman's Warehouse and Cody got a new jacket! He had fun decking me out in all neon orange and taking multiple pictures of me...later, I surprised him by taking him to the Airplane Restaurant. Amazingly, he didn’t guess it or find it on my GPS or in my phone or anywhere which was a miracle in it of itself. So basically, there are booths and tables in a huge, real airplane….nothing too fancy but a neat atmosphere and decent food at least! Then, since it was very cold we hit up Starbucks for some hot chocolate and then headed to the UCCS hockey game for awhile.

Saturday morning I got up super early and went to Oktoberfest at USAFA with Cody to get me some cheap skiing stuff…success! When I looked out my window, I saw some white on the ground as I was half asleep and just assumed that it was frost, so I walked out to my car and it was snowing hard and there was snow all over my car and I was basically shocked! I had my big north face on my my ugg boots weren’t exactly snow friendly, I think that they’re still wet :/  We went to the “Penny Arcade” in Manitou Springs and walked around there for a little bit. The arcade had crazy old games, most of which only cost 1, 5 or 10 cents so it was definitely worth it…I think we spent 70 cents total for about 30 minutes of fun! Then, we went to see Cowboys and Aliens before heading back over to Manitou Springs for chocolate fondue at the Mona Lisa, which was delicious!

Apparently this water fountain was supposed to have amazing water, so we filled up a bottle and tried it...it was hot and tasted like it had ruined lemons in it....nasty! If it was a trick, we definitely fell for it!

On Sunday, Cody surprised me with sonic and mcdonalds for breakfast! We left for Denver and went to a place called Unser Racing to race high powered go-karts. They went about 45mph and we were forced to wear helmets and all…it was a ton of fun though, I’m practically a Nascar driver! On the way to dinner, we passed a huge Bass Pro so naturally,

we had to stop....it was pretty sweet I guess. We went to Texas de Brazil for dinner, which was scrumptious, I forgot how much I love that place! Cody ordered this crazy Brazillian soda that they suggested called Guarana. It has 10x as much caffeine as a coffee bean apparently…I believe them because after 2 of them, he was a bit energized for lack of a better word! We went to Colorado’s largest haunted house after dinner but it wasn’t that great…the midgets were scary but other than that, one I went to in Gatlinburg is still the scariest! Today, we were going to go golfing but it was relatively chilly and we wanted to catch up on “Lost” so it was a pretty chill day. I subscribed to groupon and getmyperks.com and ended up saving over $70 this weekend even though gas is a killer.

This coming week, Melissa goes home on Thursday and I am going to tailgate and to the USAFA football game on Thursday night with Cody. Thank goodness it's already almost Tuesday :)

Happy October!

Already October? Where did September go?! Fall is officially here...some of the trees are changing colors and I love it but I've been warned to enjoy them for the whole 2 weeks it seems like fall because winter hits fast :( like with a low of 32 degrees on Saturday...shoot me. This month Cody and I both turn 20 so I’m in the works of planning some sort of celebration for this weekend :) After visiting the pet shop last week with Melissa, I decided I needed a bunny. They were only $30 and it really liked me even though it was kind of ugly but then I remembered that I would probably kill it and be really sad, and it’s illegal to have in my apartment so I decided against it :/ I JUST WANT A PUPPY! I had fun decorating my blog last week while I was procrastinating so I made some fake goldfish that are impossible to kill, plus a puppy of the day so I guess just where can be jealous of whoever owns it!

I had a great weekend since it felt like it started on Thursday! Cody didn’t have class on Friday for some sort of short training obstacle leadership course so he got to leave after class and stay out until midnight on Thursday night! We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and ran into his old squadron so I got to meet some of them. We got out of there with an appetizer and 2 entrees with leftovers for under $20, which hardly ever happens! We came back and watched River Monsters and Lost on Netflix until he had to go back. Speaking of Lost, Cody has got me hooked on it! By hooked, I mean I somewhat pay attention and he updates me since he watches a bazillion episodes during the week without me…it really is interesting though and it plays with your mind. We’re on season 2, he’ll probably be on season 3 by next weekend but there are 6 seasons total so there’s plenty left!

On Friday, I went to class, worked out then picked Cody up and we attempted to play disc golf again but it was packed so we went to Pineview Reservoir like 2 minutes from UCCS and fished a little. Of course we didn’t catch anything, but I had fun walking around the lake and being there.
We hit up Pizza Hut for dinner…I forgot how amazing stuffed crust is haha. Saturday we went on a Goodwill search for tennis rackets and finally found some since I forgot to bring mine out here….fail.  So, we played tennis at a random park for a few hours and I finally won a few games. Somehow tennis turned into dodgeball since we found a lot more tennis balls than we came with and after awhile, I opted out and decided to swing at the playground! On the way home, there was a couple walking on the sidewalk with 10-12 deer surrounding them like they were nature goddesses or something...and then the deer all scattered and decided to cross the 4 lane road one at a time...

Later that night, we went to Wendy’s and then to see a movie. I found a discount theatre that is only $1.75 a movie! The movies were released about 2 months ago but for that cheap, it’s so worth it! I got an ICEE and it was delectable….we saw Horrible Bosses! It was vulgar but really funny. After the movie, a couple of Cody’s friends came by the apartment and hung out with us and my roommates until like 4am so we were tired today. Plus, Cody got a Hepatitis vaccine and the flu mist at the end of last week so he wasn’t feeling his best.

We chilled and watched Lost most of the day with the exception of a few errands. While Cody took a nap, I ran to the grocery store to get some things to make dinner…salad, pork chops, fried okra, pasta and rolls! With chocolate ice cream for dessert, of course. I figure that we need to eat healthy some of the time, with the exception of the ice cream!

This week, I am going to visit Cody on his birthday and then Alex is coming to visit so I will pick her up on Thursday night and she'll spend the night with me so I am excited about that! USAFA has a 3-day weekend next weekend so I'll be sure and update you on how this next week goes!
